Between The Two Ends of The World (Yes, Another Song Title)

Between The Two Ends of The World (Yes, Another Song Title)

From this day forward, you must bare witness to the fact that you saw this titles here first!

So here’s a story :

Four further days walk from the pilgrims finishing line in Santiago, is a place called Finisterre, roughly translated from Spanish means, the end of the world.

Finisterre

There is another spot in upstate New York, Long Island, also referred to as “the end of the world.”

I’ve been there with 2 friends to meet with the author  Allan Weisbecker, who had fallen for my Song,  Love Being Lost. This spot also looks out onto th300px-Culloden-pointe opposite side of the Atlantic.

So I will walk to Finisterre so I will have visited Both Ends of The World.

My song’s chorus will say “Between both ends of the world, there is nowhere you can’t go.”

It’s tradition for those who make it to Finisterre to burn their boots and other no longer needed items. I will pack my portable guitar and one set of clothes and burn everything else at the edge of the ocean. Then I will come home.

From Wikipedia ;

Cape Finisterre is the final destination for many pilgrims on the Way of St. James, thepilgrimage to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Cape Finisterre is about a 90-km walk from Santiago de Compostela. It is a recent tradition for pilgrims to burn their clothes or boots at the end of their journey at Cape Finisterre.[3]

The origin of the pilgrimage to Finisterre is not certain. However, it is believed to date from pre-Christian times and was possibly associated with Finisterre’s status as the “edge of the world”. The tradition continued in medieval times, when “hospitals” were established to cater to pilgrims along the route from Santiago de Compostela to Finisterre.
